To be eligible to bank, save and invest with us, you must maintain a minimum relationship balance of £25,000*, or currency equivalent, across all your HSBC Expat accounts and investments. This amount is called your Relationship Balance.

If you choose our Premier service, you need a minimum Relationship Balance of £60,000, or currency equivalent.

If you already have Premier status with another part of the HSBC Group, you automatically qualify for your Premier service - and you don't have to maintain a minimum Relationship Balance.

The minimum balance for our Bank Account is £5,000, US$10,000 or €10,000. The balance of your Bank Account will count towards your total Relationship Balance.

Global View

As an expat you will most likely have a local bank account in at least two countries. Getting an overview of your worldwide accounts quickly could be difficult. Customers of HSBC can view the balance of all their linked HSBC accounts together on one screen. You can currently link HSBC accounts from 39 different countries to Global View.

Global Transfers - fast money transfers between your HSBC accounts

Global Transfers allows you to transfer money between your eligible accounts in Global View. This service is offered free to our HSBC Premier customers. HSBC Advance customers are charged a fee for each transfer made. You can currently transfer between 36 different countries with Global Transfers.

Debit and credit cards offer a convenient, secure way of accessing your offshore money, wherever you are.

HSBC Bank plc in the UK offers Visa debit cards in sterling or US dollar. You can also apply for a charge card in euro through American Express when you become a customer of HSBC Expat.

Plus, available exclusively to HSBC Premier the HSBC Premier Credit Card in sterling offers the lowest interest rate of any HSBC Bank plc credit card. It carries no annual fee and grants you membership to the HSBC Premier Privileges programme. Representative 11.9% APR variable.

Register your card for extra security when shopping online

For extra security when shopping online, our customers can register their sterling debit card for online shopping with the MasterCard® SecureCode™ service or Verified by Visa® service. Learn more . Response, available to HSBC Premier customers only: On-the-ground assistance should you and/or a loved one* be involved in a potentially life-threatening situation while abroad (such as political unrest, violent crime, kidnap and missing persons cases). We will initiate a rescue team, utilising our network of over 400 global security specialists** to assist you in person.
