Am I eligible?

HSBC are not able to provide mortgages to residents of all countries. Subject to confirmation that you meet the applicable eligibility criteria and depending upon your country of residence, individual circumstances and your requirements, Buy to Let mortgages may be provided by either HSBC Expat or HSBC Bank plc, based in the UK.

Borrower eligibility:

Subject to confirmation that you meet borrower eligibility criteria and depending upon your country of residence, individual circumstances and your requirements, Buy to Let mortgages may be provided by either HSBC Expat or HSBC Bank plc, based in the UK.

HSBC Buy to Let mortgages are available to:


HSBC Premier customers*
or
Customers with a minimum annual salary** of:
None UK resident: £75,000
UK resident: £25,000

*Only applicable if your mortgage is provided by HSBC Expat. **Only applicable if your mortgage is provided by HSBC Bank plc based in the UK.

Buy to let mortgage eligibility criteria

  • The property must be in the UK and HSBC require the first legal charge over the property
  • The maximum loan to valuation (LTV) is 75% subject to loan amount and a maximum Buy to Let lending limit applies. Other fees and charges may be payable including legal fees and charges levied by your existing lender.
  • A Standard Valuation Report is required for all applications
  • Properties must be let under Assured Shorthold Tenancies (AST's) or via a Company Let Agreement*

    *(A company let is when a company takes on a residential tenancy agreement as the tenant, rather than an individual. A company employee then occupies the premises as a licensee of the tenant.)

  • The maximum mortgage term is 25 years
  • All mortgages are subject to underwriting and lending criteria

Please note: Buy to Let lending is subject to our maximum Buy to Let lending limits. These take into account any Buy to let borrowing from other lenders.

* As of 12 May 2014, our HSBC Advance service is no longer available to new customers.
