International Tax Service provided by EY

The International Tax Service provided by EY to HSBC Expat customers consists of three elements:

  • International tax advice
  • Departure and arrival tax briefing
  • Tax returns

International tax advice
Available only to HSBC Premier customers

You'll have access to detailed tax advice from EY, tailored to your individual circumstances to help you manage your tax liabilities and implement appropriate tax management strategies.

They'll provide you with guidance on specific tax issues such as the implications of new tax legislation, buying or selling property, how to ensure your wealth is passed on according to your wishes without incurring any unnecessary costs or complications, and managing your wealth tax efficiently.

As an HSBC Premier customer, you'll be entitled to a no obligation one hour initial meeting with EY where they'll review your circumstances and identify areas where they may be able to assist you. There is no fee for this initial meeting which can be conducted by telephone.

You won't receive formal tax advice during this initial meeting, but you'll discover how you could benefit from formal tax advice and how much it would cost. The cost will depend upon the countries and level of complexity involved - full details of which will be provided to you by EY.

Departure and arrival tax briefing
Available to HSBC Premier and HSBC Advance* customers

When you move to another country, your tax situation can change significantly so it's important to plan well in advance. To give you peace of mind, you can have a departure tax briefing with EY before you relocate to your new country.

Your discussion will be focused on the country you're about to leave and the impact of things such as residency rules, double taxation agreements, capital gains tax e.g. on the sale of a property, inheritance tax laws in your new country of residence, and where your investments are held. Your departure tax briefing will take up to an hour and will be conducted by telephone.

For some expat locations , we've agreed a fixed fee with EY if you wish to take advantage of this service.

With offices in over 140 countries, EY can call on the expertise of their international tax specialists to help you plan ahead and manage the many challenges and obligations that naturally arise from moving from one country to another.

And don't worry if you've already moved to your new location, EY can still provide you with an arrival tax briefing.

Tax returns
Available to HSBC Premier and HSBC Advance* customers

If you find tax returns a tedious and time-consuming job, EY can look after this for you no matter how many countries are involved, and provide you with a single point of contact to coordinate everything on your behalf. This service includes the preparation and filing of your tax returns, calculation of any tax liabilities and overpayments, and advice on payment dates.
