Application criteria

*To be eligible for HSBC Advance you must maintain a minimum Relationship Balance of £25,000, or currency equivalent, across all your HSBC Expat accounts and investments. HSBC Advance is free of monthly charges, however, a £10 underfunding fee will apply for any given month where your Relationship Balance falls below the minimum. On 1 December 2011 the underfunding fee will increase to £15. For more information on how we calculate your Relationship Balance, please read our Personal Banking Terms of Business.

Account eligibility

The minimum balance requirement for our offshore accounts are:

Bank Account: £5,000, US$10,000 or €10,000
Online Bonus Saver Account: £5,000, US$5,000 or €5,000
Saver Account: £5,000, US$10,000 or €10,000
Fixed Deposit Account: £5,000, US$10,000, €10,000 or the currency equivalent of £10,000.
Currency Savings Account: The currency equivalent of £10,000

The minimum balance required to open an account may differ for a limited number of countries' nationals or residents. Please contact us if you require further information before applying.
