HSBC Expat products and services are generally not covered by EU law.
Until 31 December 2020, your HSBC credit card will still fall under the EU Payment Services Directive. This gives you the following rights when using your credit card in Europe:

- you should have access to secure electronic payments, using a combination of strong customer authentication measures (e.g. a PIN and your fingerprint)
From 1 January 2021, Britain will have exited the EU (Brexit) and EU law will no longer automatically apply. How this affects your credit card is unclear, as the terms of the future relationship have yet to be agreed. This includes rules for financial products and services. We’ll give you an update as soon as we can.
