Eligibility and how to apply
HSBC Expat customers
To apply online for an American Express Platinum card you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- have at least USD/EUR 50,000 Assets Under Management8 with us
- hold an HSBC Expat Premier bank account in the currency of the card you are applying for
If funds are not held with us, you'll be required to provide proof of funds.
American Express Services Europe Limited (AESEL) is not authorised to issue cards to residents of the US or Singapore, or via banks located in Singapore.

6 Supplementary Cards allow you to share the benefits of your American Express Card with others close to you. You will be the main Cardholder and will be liable for all charges made on the Supplementary Card(s). Additional Cardmembers must be 18 years or over. Approval subject to status.
7 Late payment fees will be applied if you do not pay the full outstanding balance shown on your statement within 30 days of your statement date.
8Assets Under Management (AUM) is the total amount of funds available in cash within 30 days, held in an account with the bank and/or its Affiliates.
