Eligibility

You can apply for an American Express Card if you hold USD / EUR 50,000 Assets Under Management8 in your sole name and hold an active bank account with us in the currency of the card you are applying for, this cannot be a savings account.

If funds are not held with HSBC Expat, you'll be required to provide proof of funds. American Express Services Europe Limited (AESEL) is not authorised to issue Cards to residents of the US or Singapore or via banks located in Singapore. Further restrictions may apply subject to American Express acceptance policy.

You must be aged 18 or over.

8Assets Under Management (AUM) is the total amount of funds available in cash within 30 days, held in an account with the bank and/or its Affiliates.

 Supplementary Cards allow you to share the benefits of your American Express Card with others close to you. You will be the main Cardholder and will be liable for all charges made on the Supplementary Card(s). Additional Cardmembers must be 18 years or over. Approval subject to status.

 Late payment fees will be applied if you do not pay the full outstanding balance shown on your statement within 30 days of your statement date.
