Already using the HSBC Expat mobile banking app?
Simply follow the steps below to activate your Global Money Account:
- Log on to the HSBC Expat app.
- Open the accounts menu and scroll down past your existing accounts to 'Products & services'.
- Choose the 'Global Money' account, then 'Get Started'.
- Follow the quick steps and accept the terms and conditions.
- You will have the option to order your multi-currency debit card during the journey.
- Now you are all set to start using Global Money Account.
- If you order your debit card during the journey, the digital card will be ready to add to your mobile wallet.

2 Subject to the availability of supported currencies and eligible participating countries / territories. By "instant" we mean Global Money transfers are typically made within 6 seconds. Global Money Transfers are available only through the HSBC Expat Mobile App and are generally faster than payments made by telephone/online banking.
3 We draw on a combination of factors to provide Global Money Account users with competitive conversion rates, quoted to you at the time of making the transfer. You'll receive the HSBC Exchange Rate before you complete a transaction. This rate refreshes every 90 seconds to align to market exchange rates. The HSBC Exchange Rate includes the HSBC cost rate and a foreign currency conversion margin.
